We have added a new Database Snapshot to the SCOTdata dashboard, giving visitors an at-a-glance view of the companies tracked across the platform.

The charts break down the database by commodity and by market capitalisation, showing both company counts and percentage share.

At the time of our LinkedIn announcement on 28 September, the SCOTdatabase covered 1,927 natural resource companies. The snapshot highlights some interesting characteristics, from the dominance of gold companies to the significant number of smaller-cap companies represented.

From an overview to the underlying companies

The charts are more than a picture of the database. Select a commodity or market-cap category to jump directly into the underlying companies, ready to explore and compare them further.

It is a straightforward way to find a starting point, whether you are interested in a particular commodity or companies within a specific market-cap range.

Keeping it simple

The Database Snapshot is available on the guest and user dashboards. You can explore it without an account, or use it alongside your saved companies when logged in.

Another small step towards making SCOTdata a more useful tool for navigating the natural resources sector.

Counts change as the database is updated. Companies associated with more than one commodity appear in each relevant category, so commodity percentages can add up to more than 100%.
